The VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Nail Technology is a substantial vocational qualification that will prepare you for a career as a nail technician. This qualification is designed for learners aged 16 years or over and will support you to gain employment as a nail technician, as the units contained in this qualification cover all the skills and knowledge required for this role.

This is a vocational qualification and includes all the required elements to work effectively as a nail technician including, mandatory units covering the following: providing manicures and pedicures, applying and maintaining nail enhancements, maintaining personal health and well-being, health and safety and client care.

Course Content-

This qualification includes all the required elements to work effectively as a nail technician including: enhance and maintain nails using UV gel and liquid and powder.

You will also develop your understanding and skills by selecting a number of optional specialist units which include: designing and creating nail art, air brush designs, enhancing nails with electric files, wraps, promoting products and contributing to the financial effectiveness of a business. The structure of this qualification provides you with the opportunity to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills required for a career as a nail technician.

Throughout this qualification you will develop your knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology, health and safety, client care and nail product knowledge. You will develop a range of technical skills in nail enhancements, using a variety of different products, tools and techniques. You will also develop interpersonal skills that will assist you to communicate effectively with clients.



This qualification is dedicated entirely to the skills and attributes required to gain successful employment as a spa therapist. Learners will develop the knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology and health and safety. They will also develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to consult with clients, successfully promote and retail products, provide a range of treatments that cover massage, heat and hydrotherapy, body wrapping, holistic facial, manicure and pedicure processes, as well as understand the history and origins of massage therapies.


Course contents-

This qualification is based on the national occupational standards for spa therapy and includes all the required elements to work effectively as a spa therapist. Learners must achieve all mandatory units which include:

– Steam, sauna and hydrotherapy

– History and origins of massage therapies
– Swedish massage
– Anatomy and physiology for the face and body systems

This qualification has been specifically designed for those who are willing to build existing knowledge and understanding of Salon management skills. Learners will have their skills assessed in a real or realistic working environment.

This qualification will require research, it includes monitoring and recommending improvements to; health and safety practices in the salon, the effective running of your business and the all important area of human resource management.
